Sunscreen
For those long days at the beach or lazy afternoons by the pool, you know how important it is to be sun safe. But did you know that your skin can be damaged with even small amounts of sun exposure as you go about your regular daily activities?
Wearing sunscreen every day can help protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
Here are our top sun tips below for protection year round (yes sunscreen is not just for summer).
Use sunscreen everyday regardless of the weather
Apply sunscreen to clean, dry skin at least 20 minutes prior to sun exposure
Select a broad spectrum SPF50+ sunscreen with both UVA (skin ageing) and UVB (skin burning).
For it to work properly, sunscreen needs to be applied liberally. A teaspoon for each limb, front and back of the body and half a teaspoon for the face, neck and back of the ears.
Reapply sunscreen every TWO hours, or more often if swimming or sweating.
Apply sunscreen to all exposed areas including the back of the neck, knees, hands and tops of feet.
Avoid sun exposure between 11am and 3pm
Stay in the shade wherever possible and apply a water-resistant sunscreen when swimming.
Wear protective clothing when exposed to the sun.
Protect your eyes and face with sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat.
Remember – UV rays pass through glass and clouds and reflect off surfaces including snow.
To make sure your sunscreen is effective all summer, it’s important to store sunblock correctly (below 30°C) and check the use by date.
Invisible Zinc
Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb the sun's UV rays, INVISIBLE ZINC uses naturally sourced Zinc Oxide to create a physical barrier on your skin, reflecting both UVA & UVB rays and helping to prevent irritation.
Zinc Oxide is a mineral reflector that creates a physical, reflective barrier on the surface of your skin. In sunscreen, zinc oxide acts as a filter for UV radiation.
